Holiday Shopping Frenzy
The ads say "Super Santa Sale," "Weekend Madness," "Santa Bucks," "Super Saturday."
One week until Christmas. Is your shopping done? The Saturday before Christmas is traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year and area stores and malls are expecting to see heavy traffic this weekend as people finish their holiday shopping.
Some holiday shoppers tell WWJ's Vickie Thomas they are spending less this year because of the economy, but also because of the deals stores are offering. However, a recent survey by the National Retail Association showed shoppers plan to spend an average of $107.50 on themselves this year. That's $6 more than last year.

This weekend will also have theives on the prowl. Troy police will be increasing patrols around Oakland Mall and the Somerset Collection.
Wednesday, two vans were stolen from the Oakland Mall in broad daylight, according to Troy Police Lt. Bob Redmond.
One was found with the ignition running not far away the other still at large.
Thieves will be looking to steal credit cards and/or presents.
"Never set your purse down while you're trying to do a transaction, keep your hand on it at all times," Redmond told WWJ's Kathryn Larson.
Redmond says it's important that you report anything suspicious to local police.
