Holiday Drink Recipes: Tequilaritas, Peppermint Martini, Spanish Coffee

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Caitlin Erickson of Milford House Bar & Grill knows what this area's bar-going customers are looking for over the holidays.

"Right now, everyone wants Bell's Christmas Ale or any kind of Christmasy ales, they're also looking for Spanish coffee," she said, adding that heavier, darker drinks are popular over the holidays.

Any coffee becomes "Spanish" by adding shots of brandy and kahlua, and topping your cup with whipped cream. And that's just one example of a holiday drink that will delight friends and neighbors during holiday gatherings. Get some of our favorite recipes below.

Fireside from Milford House

*Rim a coffee glass with sherry and crushed graham crackers

*Pour in 1.5 oz of Three Olives S'mores Vodka

*Add 12 ounces of hot chocolate

*Top with whipped cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup

"One does the job, you don't need too many of them," Erickson said, laughing.

CocoaRita from Tequilaritas in Milford

*Rim a mug with sherry, dip it in green and white colored sugar

*Pour in .75 ounce of RumChata

*Add .75 ounce of Patron XO Cafe Dark cocoa

*Add 12 ounces of hot chocolate

*Finish with whipped cream topped with red and green sugar

Peppermint Martini

Rim martini glass with water, dip in red colored sugar

*5 ounces chilled vodka

*2 ounces white creme de menthe

*.5 ounce of peppermint schnapps

*Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice, strain into glass. Enjoy!
