Highland Park School To Unveil New Basketball Court
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Highland Park High School is getting a $40,000 face lift thanks to an initiative between Sprite and the Detroit Pistons. The money was used to replace their outdoor basketball court.
Superintendent Edith Hightower said the court has brightened up the place and is good for the entire community.
"They were not in great shape. This collaboration has allowed us to upgrade the outdoor court," Hightower said. "They resurfaced the outdoor courts, they put up a basketball rim, painted the fence around it, supplied it with trash cans. It will definitely have an impact for our students and the community."
The ribbon cutting is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Highland Park High school basketball team will hit the blacktop and participate in a Sprite-Pistons basketball drills session led by Head Coach Lawrence Frank. The Pistons Flight Crew dunk team will also be on-hand to entertain attendees.
