Highland Park Police Investigate Shooting
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - An argument outside a party store erupted in gunfire in Highland Park.
At least one person was injured in the shooting, Wednesday afternoon, at West Grand Blvd. near Woodward and the Davision freeway.
While Highland Park Police did not immediately release any details regarding the incident, WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting spoke with several people who heard the gunshots.
"I ducked down. Then we seen people running everywhere. Somebody got shot over there and around the corner," said Jay, who declined to give his last name.
Jay said it sounded like a rifle: "It was just goin', all you heard was, 'Boom! Boom! Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow!'"
Area residents said the shooting may have been connected to an attempted robbery.
Police hope to obtain surveillance video from an area business to aid their investigation. They did not release any details about the victim or his condition, but witnesses said the man was shot in the buttocks or thigh.
