Highland Park Cop Pleads Guilty In Drug Trafficking Scheme
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - An unpaid reserve Highland Park police officer has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit extortion as part of a drug trafficking scheme. Fifty-five-year-old Craig Clayton faces up to 20 years in prison.
Clayton is one of four officers in Highland Park charged earlier this year with accepting bribes and conspiring to distribute cocaine.
Two of the officers are accused of transporting and delivering what they believed to be 2 kilograms of cocaine for an FBI source.
Authorities have said two other officers were recruited to help deliver a larger shipment of what they believed was cocaine.
