High Winds Knock Out Power To Thousands
Winds, with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, are to blame for knocking out service to at least 124,000 customers across the state Tuesday night.
About 15,000 DTE Energy customers were without power Wednesday morning. That's down from about 50,000 total outages. Nine schools in Detroit and the suburbs were closed Wednesday because they had no power.
Consumers Energy reports about ten-thousand outages as of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Most of the outages are in the Grand Rapids area.
Full restoration is expected by the end of the day.
