High Wind Warning
High winds are starting to move into Michigan again.
Gusts of up to 50 miles per hour are reported in the Upper Peninsula where gale warnings are posted. Waves of up to 18 feet are expected on the Great Lakes this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the metro Detroit area that will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A high wind warning can mean sustained wind speeds of at least 40 miles per hour or gusts of 58 miles per hour or more, which can lead to property damage.
Winds of this magnitude can also cause damage to trees and can cause downed power lines. Driving certain vehicles may also be difficult.
The area avoided a major collision with Tuesday's storm that knocked out power to 45,000 utility customers. Only a few scattered outages are reported this morning in southeast Michigan.
