High School Team Beats General Motors In MPG
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Chevy Volt electric settled for second place at the "Green Grand Prix," a rally for alternative fuel vehicles and hybrids at the storied Watkins Glen race track in New York.
Second place might seem like a great spot for the GM entry until you learn first place was won by an entry created by a team of high-schoolers.
The "Factory Five GTM," created by students at West Philadelphia High School, nailed top honors at 160 mpg.
Miles per gallon, not speed, determines the winner of this event, and the Volt clocked in at 129 mpg.
