Henry Ford Develops App for ER Locations
Henry Ford Health System has developed the free Henry Ford ER Locator for iPhone, BlackBerry and Android platforms.
It allows users to quickly locate a Henry Ford treatment center. Included are:
* Nine emergency departments in Brownstown Township, Clinton Township, Dearborn, Detroit, Grosse Pointe Farms, Sterling Heights, Warren, West Bloomfield Township and Wyandotte
* Four Urgent Care centers in Bruce Township, Chesterfield, Fraser and Shelby Township
* Three After Hours Care centers in Livonia, Novi, St. Clair Shores
The app navigates to the nearest Henry Ford ER, Urgent Care or After Hours Care location and interfaces with the phone's GPS to give turn-by-turn directions, the site address and phone number for direct calling.
The app also includes a list of conditions treated at Urgent Care and After Hours Care centers.
In addition, complementing the national ICE initiative where people are encouraged to place a phone number under ICE (In Case of Emergency) in their cell phone, the app allows for more medical information to be stored such as medical conditions, allergies and medication information that can be easily accessible during an emergency by medical personnel or family members.
The app for Blackberry and Android can be downloaded via HenryFord.com/ER or in their respective app stores. The app for the iPhone can be downloaded from iTunes.
