Chopper Crash Kills Local Biz Owner, Employee
FRASER (WWJ) - Authorities have identified two Macomb County men killed in a private helicopter crash in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.
Authorities say 46-year-old Dan Logghe of Richmond was piloting the helicopter when it went down Friday in Caledonia Township, about 85 miles north of Bay City. His passenger is identified as Mark May of Sterling Heights.
The pair was headed to a hunting cabin near Alpena on Friday, about 15 miles from the crash site. A hunter found the wreckage Monday morning.
Officials say it was common for the two to go to a hunting cabin every weekend in northeast Michigan. But the family had not heard from them by Sunday.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the crash.
