Heavy Traffic In Tire Stores Before Expected Snow Storm
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) With up to a foot of snow expected this week -- WWJ's Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports live and local many are making sure their tires are ready.
The Bell Tire Store in Southfield is busier than usual Monday, some people have bought snow tires, while others are having their treads checked.
Frank Ramonie, Manager of Bell Tire in Southfield, said it's been busier than usual for January sales, "We've got some buying snow tires a lot of people looking for good all season tires, a lot of people coming in getting their tires inspected for tread-dots and just making sure they are safe."
Customers in the store may have come in for basic repair, but definitely had new concern for the overall safety of their car tires, thinking about the expected snow.
Darrell Cardwell of Southfield, bought a tire because of a blow-out, but says his tires always need to be in good shape. "I'm always concerned about the snow, because I'm a driver, but not in emergencies (but) doctors appointments so I'm always concerned about snow."
Cardwell expects lots of people will cancel their doctor appointments due to the coming snow.
