Heavy Storms Due In Parts Of Southern Michigan
DETROIT (WWJ) - Accuweather's Dave Bowers tells WWJ that the entire Newsradio 950 listening area was under a tornado watch but that has been cancelled.
Jim Clark of Farmington Hills passed right through the storm while driving south on I-75 near Pinconning:
"It was a pretty large area of just was dense black clouds that went right down to the ground," said Clark. "The base of this was pretty wide, it wasn't like your pencil thin tornado thing."
"The winds coming across the road a few minutes later were very intense. I was only going about 60 miles an hour and there was virtually nobody else on the road, and the wind gusts I hit were stong enough that the truck I was driving actually downshifted and went into passing gear," said Clark.
He says he had a hard time keeping his Ford pickup truck on the road.
