Heavy Storms Flood Redford Township Neighborhood
REDFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Michigan doesn't officially have a "Redford River", but some residents in Redford Township say they found one outside their homes Thursday morning.
On Fenton Street at Midland, WWJ's Vickie Thomas said the flood waters had to be at least four or five feet deep.
Resident Steve Baroviak said it's the worst flooding he's seen in decades. "Thirty years ago it was halfway up the hill. This is pretty
bad though, as people try to drive through it. Even the trucks," he said.
Madeline Miller, who lives in the corner house, said it looked like a "war zone." Miller said the flood waters had she and her husband practically trapped in their home.
They had more than a foot of water in their basement. "We don't have flood insurance, because we couldn't afford it," she said.
