Hearing On Cabrera DUI Case
(Detroit-WWJ) The lawyer representing Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera in his DUI case in Florida raised the possibility the All-Star first baseman might not be able to play in Canada if he is convicted.
Attorney Michael Kessler made the statement Friday during a court hearing in Fort Pierce, Florida, where Cabrera is facing charges of DUI and resisting arrest without violence.
Cabrera was arrested last February by police officers who said he was drunk behind the wheel, although the vehicle was on the shoulder of a road at the time.
Kessler's Canadian gambit may be mood anyway. There's only one major league team in Canada, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Tigers have already concluded their season series with the Jays.
