Hearing Delayed For Accused Arsonist
A court date for an accused arsonist has been postponed till Wednesday. Magistrate Mark Randon has agreed to delay Detroiter Samson Wright's federal detention hearing, after the Detroiter's court-appointed attorney said she needed more time to gather necessary information.
The 29-year old was arrested several days after the August 13th fire on East Jefferson at Dickerson that injured seven firefighters.
Some of those firefighters were hurt when the building collapsed onto the street. Four remain in serious condition.
In the courtroom Monday, WWJ's Kathryn Larson sat next to Wright's girlfriend kept her eyes fixed to her shackled boyfriend.
Wright's girlfriend said she was shocked that he's accused of setting fire to a strip mall that sent seven firefighters to the hospital earlier this month.
Wright is charged with intentionally setting fire to a commercial building and faces up to 20 years in prison.
