Hearing Delayed For 2 Charged In Teen's Murder
A hearing to determine if two young Metro Detroit men will stand trial on murder charges has been postponed.
Police say 22-year old Nicholas Cottrell of Taylor and 19-year old Justin Yoshikawa of Westland confessed to killing 16-year old Carlee Morse in August, but WWJ's Marie Osborne reports a preliminary hearing in 18th District Court was adjourned to give prosecutors more time to collect phone records.
Outside of the courtroom, Tina Law, who said she was Yoshikawa's youth pastor, fought back tears as she remembered Yoshikawa.
"He was a good kid," Law said. "I'm not really sure what happened."
Cottrell's mother, Tina Lowe, was charged with being an accessory after the fact.
The hearing will be held January 13th. Morse's body has not been found.
