Blackened Blooze from Ypsilanti, Michigan...
"Las Drogas" is a swaggering, woozy power trio based out of Ypsilanti, Michigan that specializes in stompin' and swamp-tastic proto-punk that's heavily influenced by the primitive roots of greasy rock n' roll that goes way back to the 1950's and 1960's. Their catchy sound is like the White Stripes mashed with Jerry Lee Lewis.
Watch this Las Drogas performance from our Grove Sessions events from the summer of 2020 in our courtyard featuring the video work of TimBlackman, audio engineering by Taylor Greenshields of Fundamental Sound Co., and the courtyard mural by Joanna Farben
This song took on a whole new meaning for us over the last year. Now, going into 2021, the theme of this song still holds new relevance.
2020 was awful, and now that it's 2021, we just want to encourage kindness.. We don't know anyone who hasn't struggled, in some way, over the last year.. Some have struggled more than others and it's important to try and be empathetic, regardless of opinion or political stance. We are all experiencing uncertainty in one form or another and we should be coming together, instead of giving into division, because of it.
To all of you, we wish you a belated Happy New Year. Things WILL get better this year and we can't wait to be with all of you again! Here's to 2021!!!
