Hazel Park Raceway Will Host Kentucky Derby Simulcast
HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - A big weekend for Hazel Park Raceway. Friday racing fans enjoyed opening night and Saturday, the track hosts its day long Kentucky Derby fun.
Ladd Biro with Hazel Park Raceway says ten thousand fans will be watching all of the day's races via simulcast. And then it comes time to place your bets, which Biro says includes some not- so- scientific methods:
"People, when they wager, often bet, well I like that horse because of the name or I like that horse because of the color, whatever the case may be that's a pretty horse, there are a multitude of reasons ... they have all been expressed at some point," says Biro.
Biro says many people dress up for the day, nursing mint juleps until post time. The park will have live racing following the Derby action.
