Hazel Park Man Arrested On Child Porn Charges
HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - A 43-year-old Hazel Park man has been charged with possessing and distributing child pornography.
Marc Barron was arraigned Thursday on a total of 12 counts, including distributing child sexually abusive material, possession of child sexually abusive material, and use of a computer to commit a crime.
The arrest came after the Oakland County Sheriff's Office received information about child pornography found on a cell phone at the Days Inn motel in Sallisaw, Oaklahoma.
Authorities said they traced that phone to Barron and found incriminating pictures and videos on other phones his possession when he was arrested at his home last week.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety for Barron and he was remanded to the Oakland County Jail.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard this is was a complex, multijurisdictional case that required an intense, time-consuming investigation of multiple devices.
"Cooperation between multiple agencies resulted in the apprehension of a child sexual predator," said Bouchard, in a statement. "This is an important reminder to all parents to be diligent in knowing where your children are at all times, and who they are associating with so that they don't fall prey to the unscrupulous persons wishing to harm them."
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Computer Crimes Unit is continuing to examine evidence taken from Barron's home as an investigation continues.
Barron's next court date is May 7.
