High School "Security Liaison" Arrested For Alleged Sexual Conduct With Student
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ)- Harper Woods Police arrested a staff member at Harper Woods High School Wednesday on allegations of criminal sexual conduct.
Superintendent Todd Biederwolf said the staff member was a security liaison, a contracted employee through a third-party company identified as Davidson-based EDUStaff. The staffer had been a district employee the year prior before he was hired by the company in the same capacity.
The school employee, whose name has not been released, was taken to the police station shortly before noon Wednesday for processing, and was then released pending formal charges, according to a statement by police.
Harper Woods detectives executed a search warrant at the school after the arrest.
A letter to parents posted on the school district's website from Biederwolf said the victim was a student at the high school and administrators have no reason to believe "other students or other schools are directly impacted."
Biederwolf said they have no information if the suspect has had any prior offenses. He said the district and EDUStaff had both performed pre-employment screenings on the employee, who had regular interactions with students.
The employee has been placed on leave. The letter said the district plans to cooperate with investigators.
Police are expected to release more details of the case Thursday.
