Harbaugh Interprets Curse Chant As 'Love Jim Harbaugh' During MSU Game

Oh, Jim Harbaugh heard them alright. He heard the Michigan State fans chanting his name on Saturday, prefacing it with a certain four-letter word each time.

Both on TV and in Spartan Stadium, the chant was impossible to miss.

Just not impossible to mistake - not for Harbaugh, at least.

"Yeah, I heard it, I heard it. I thought it was really great and classy," he said on his weekly radio show, Inside Michigan Football. "I thought they were saying, 'Love Jim Harbaugh,' and they kept repeating it: 'Love Jim Harbaugh, Love Jim Harbaugh.'"

As anyone with halfway-decent hearing could attest, that is most certainly not what the fans were saying.

But that didn't stop Harbaugh, ever the individual, from interpreting the chant in his own way.

"I said, 'That's great sportsmanship here by the Michigan State Spartans,'" Harbaugh added, laughing. "And then the next day I read ESPN and they were saying it was, 'Frick Jim Harbaugh.' So I guess I gotta get my hearing checked, I could've sworn they were saying, 'Love Jim Harbaugh.'"

It was quite the sarcastic bit from Harbaugh, who is perceptive enough to know the fans were hardly declaring their love for him. But he was willing to laugh about it on Monday, in large part because he was the last one laughing on Saturday.

No. 2 Michigan picked up the 32-23 victory, handing Michigan State its sixth straight loss.
