Hamtramck Man Arrested In Virginia Jewelry Store Robbery
MCLEAN, Va. (WWJ/AP) - Police in Virginia say a 22-year-old Hamtramck man was arrested in connection with a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store.
Officers say five men entered the Kay Jewelers in a McLean, Va. shopping center about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday and used hammers or mallets to smash several display cashes and steal jewelry.
Video posted to YouTube shows the suspects fleeing the store, running through the mall and escaping through am emergency exit.
Officers were able to locate one of the suspects, 22-year-old Brandon Bowditch of Hamtramck, near the mall shortly after the incident, CBSDC.com reported.
Bowditch, who was charged with robbery, is due back in a Fairfax County courtroom for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 25.
Police are still searching for the remaining suspects.
