Ham Store Employee Knifed In Attempted Robbery
TAYLOR (WWJ) - An employee of a downriver Honey Baked Ham store is hospitalized after he was knifed during an attempted armed robbery.
Taylor Police Chief Mary Sclabassi said the worker was cut when a man burst in with a knife and demanded cash.
It happened at around 10 a.m. Monday at the store on Eureka Road in Taylor.
Sclabassi said it was not immediately clear how severely the worker was hurt.
"That I don't know. I know that he has been taken to the hospital," Sclabassi told WWJ Newsradio 950's Kathryn Larson. "It appears his injuries are not life-threatening, so that is good news."
Sclabassi said police captured two suspects a short time later. They remained in custody later Monday as detectives continued their investigation — which included looking at some surveillance video.
No names have been released.
