Guy Who Caught Pujols 500th HR Ball Made Huge Mistake [BLOG]

I've always wanted to catch a foul ball and after 26 years of going to Tigers games, I'm still empty-handed. To catch a home run ball is beyond my wildest dreams. To catch a milestone home run such as Albert Pujols 500th home run ball is something that will only happen once in a lifetime.
And it did happen to one guy in his lifetime -- A lucky fan who caught Pujols home run ball decided to give it back. To me, that's an awful choice.
Tom Sherrill of Pomona, Calif., is a member of the Air Force and gave Pujols his ball back -- for what price? Nothing, according to Sherrill. He didn't want anything in return. To me, that's just crazy, that's a $100,000 baseball in my opinion. Just think, Pujols is one of the few who have gotten to 500 home runs in the last 10 years and hasn't been connected to steroids.
Just to put the money part into perspective, Pujols 497th home run ball is being auctioned and as I type this it's up to $3,780.
Collecters would spend big-time cash on this ball. I could even give Sherrill a pass if he received a Pujols game-used jersey, which is worth up to $1,000, a bat and maybe some Pujols cleats, all together at the very least he would be going home with $2,500 in memorabilia.

As for souvenirs, Sherrill at least walked away with an Angels cap. Was it game-used? Does it have Albert sweat? Not sure. Plus, Gubicza and Rojas said they'd give him four tickets to any game he wanted. So he's not walking away empty-handed for swag. But he also appeared to go into the situation with the right attitude: It's all about the experience of being involved.
