Gunman At Large After Benihana Restaurant Shooting
DEARBORN (WWJ) - The gunman is still at large and the victim is recovering after a shooting inside Benihana in Dearborn.
Dearborn police were called to the popular Japanese restaurant, at 18601 Hubbard, at around 9 p.m. Tuesday about a shooting during a fight between patrons.
When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old Ann Arbor had been shot in the stomach.
The suspect, who fled the scene, is described as a black male in his mid 30s, around 6 feet, 2 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing light-colored pants and a dark jacket.
Police are following up on leads, but say that a preliminary investigation indicates that this was "not a random act," and that the suspect and the victim appear to have a history.
The victim, whose name has not been released, remained hospitalized in stable condition on Wednesday.
Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said more information will be released to the public at a later time as an investigation continues.
