Gun-Toting Woman, Teen Girl Sought In Dollar Store Robbery [PHOTOS]

EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police in Eastpointe are looking for an armed woman and a teenage girl in connection with an armed robbery Sunday night.

Detective Lt. Neil Childs says the woman, described as being in her mid 30s and the girl walked the Family Dollar store at 20900 Gratiot, north of 8 Road, at around 9:30 p.m.

Childs said the older woman left the store briefly. She returned about ten minutes later and grabbed and armload of merchandise.

"What concerns us the most is not necessarily the value of the items," he told WWJ's Sandra McNeill. "But when she was walking out of the store she produced a black semi-automatic handgun and then brandished that weapon in the air before, you know, basically threatening employees not to follow her before she left."

It's not clear how, or if, the two suspects are related. It is believed that the two drover away together in a white 2012-2015 Kia Sorento or Sedona.

"Because that's kind of rare and it seems to be more of a violence crime we thought that was quite strange and that's why we went to identify this individual."

There were no injuries.

Police released surveillance photos of the pair and the suspect vehicle on Monday in hopes that someone might recognize them. Childs said investigators do have some leads.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Eastpointe Police at 586-445-5100 ext.1
