Gun Owned By Alleged Kalamazoo Shooter Traced To Local Store

KALAMAZOO (WWJ) - The owner of a gun shop in Kalamazoo says police have traced the sale of at least one gun owned by alleged shooter Jason Dalton to his store. Dalton is accused in the shooting spree which left six people dead on Saturday.

But Jeff Cramer of On Target Gun Shop says it was a long gun, and not the type believed to have been used in the shootings.

"He looked familar to me but I wasn't sure," said Cramer. "But some of my employees said they recognized him ... everybody kind of in shock over the whole thing.

Cramer says business has been brisk at the store today.

"It has every since the California shooting and then in the wake of this it's even added more fuel to the fire so people are uncomfortable and nervous," said Cramer.

Dalton, 45, is charged with murder and attempted murder. He's accused of killing six people and injuring two more outside an apartment building, a restaurant and a car dealership, pausing between shootings to make money as an Uber driver.

Prosecutor Jeff Getting said the weapon appeared to be a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
