Gun Found Inside Piano Donated To Nursing Home

PITTSFIELD TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Police say an unloaded gun recently turned up inside a piano that was donated years ago to an Ann Arbor-area nursing home.

AnnArbor.com reports staff at Whitehall Healthcare Center in Washtenaw County's Pittsfield Township found the gun Friday in a case inside the piano.

Police suspect the Ruger .22-caliber pistol was hidden long before the piano was donated.

Police in Pittsfield Township say they found no registered owner on file for the gun in a state database. They were working to determine the gun's last owner by searching Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives records.
