By Raquel Parks, CBS Detroit Fashion Blogger
Lights. Cameras. Fashion! Slip on your best attire and reserve your tickets to one of the most-anticipated fashion events in Metro Detroit. Fashion In Detroit (FID) is back for it's third year and will be held on Saturday, March 10 at MotorCity Casino Hotel.
Since its creation in 2009, FID has become an annual favorite in motown for promoting local fashion. This year, FID will be co-hosted by co-creator and Project Runway's, Joe Faris and Ambassador Magazine publisher and jewelry designer, Denise Illitch.
Detroiters can expect a day full of trunk and runway shows by local and national desginers. There will be 8 designer runway presentations, designer trunk shows / meet and greets, a "Market Detroit" pop-up shop, a Detroit sports lounge, a VIP private reception, and an Afterglow party to follow the event.
Peter Soronen (From NYC), Homeslice Clothing, Morado Blue, Denise Ilitch Designs, Joe Faris, and Bachrach are among the designers set to present at FID 2012. Admission to FID will not only provide attendees access to runway shows but it will also include gift bags, a souvenir guidebook / lookbook, and an opportunity to win high-end giveaways.
In addition, one Michigan-based fashion designer will be rewarded with a grant to showcase his or her Fall / Winter 2012 collection. StyleCaster.com will keep the fashion buzz and excitement going by hosting a social media lounge for online media and bloggers for the major event.
Tickets range from $10 for balcony and standing room to $100 for runway reserved seating. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster locations or at Ticketmaster.com. A portion of the FID proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald Houses of Ann Arbor and Detroit.
Ronald McDonald House's mission is to provide families of children experiencing a serious illness or injury a "home away from home" that assists in alleviating the families' emotional and financial stress.
