Grosse Pointe North High School Cancels Morning Classes After Bomb Threat
GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WWJ/AP) - A bomb threat has prompted officials at Grosse Pointe North High School to cancel morning classes.
Principal Kate Murray said in a Wednesday night email to parents, students and staff that an anonymous threat said a bomb will detonate Thursday morning at the school. The threat, which was phoned in, specified that the explosive would go off at 10 a.m.
School administrators say the school will be closed Thursday morning at the recommendation of Grosse Pointe Woods Public Safety Department. The school is expected to reopen to staff and students at noon. Afternoon classes will resume as normal, beginning with the 5th hour courses, at 12:24 p.m.
The building was searched throughout Wednesday night for any suspected explosives, but nothing was found. Officers with bomb-sniffing dog will remain on site Thursday to ensure safety.
