Greenfield Village Hosts Events Leading Up To Memorial Day
DEARBORN (AP) — A weekend of events is planned at Greenfield Village in suburban Detroit leading up to a Memorial Day commemoration.
"Civil War Remembrance" takes place Saturday through Monday at the historical attraction in Dearborn. More than 800 reenactors dressed as Union and Confederate soldiers will gather at Greenfield Village for demonstrations, live music and other activities.
New this year, visitors can learn how Union veterans returned home after the war and established organizations, including the Grand Army of the Republic, where they could gather to help remember, heal and aid widows, orphans and others.
On Monday, a Memorial Day Commemoration ceremony takes place on the Village Green.
Greenfield Village is part of The Henry Ford, which includes Henry Ford Museum. Event and admission details are posted online.
