(CBS DETROIT) - Green Day's concert at Comerica Park was briefly paused Wednesday night, and the band was rushed off stage mid-song after a drone was spotted over the venue.

Detroit police say a man flew a drone over the stadium, prompting the band to be taken off the stage for safety reasons. The band was in the early stages of its set and playing "Longview" when crew members appeared and ushered them off the stage.

After they were rushed off the stage, a message that read, "SHOW PAUSE. PLEASE, STANDBY FOR DETAILS," appeared on the screen.

Following a brief delay, the band returned to the stage and resumed their set.

Green Day's lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, changed the lyrics of "American Idiot" during the second verse and said, "I'm not a part of a MAGA agenda."

The drone pilot was found outside of Comerica Park and arrested. He is being detained pending an investigation.

In a statement, the FAA said, "The FAA investigates all reports of potentially hazardous drone operations. Although the agency does not have criminal prosecution authority, drone operators who endanger other aircraft or people on the ground can face fines that exceed $30,000. In addition, the FAA can suspend or revoke drone operators' pilot certificates."

Green Day addressed the incident in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Wednesday night.

"Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue," the band said in the post. "DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding."

Several fans responded to the post, with many saying how great the show was and others expressing the uncertainty they felt during the brief delay.

Green Day performed alongside The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas as part of the iconic punk rock group's "The Saviors Tour."
