Greektown To Get New Boss With A Competitive Plan
DETROIT (WWJ) - Michael Puggi, the man who is expected to become the CEO of Greektown Casino and Hotel, already has several projects planned to compete with neighboring casinos.
A new Michigan based marketing firm is being brought on board to better market Greektown to make it more competitive with Detroit's two other casinos, Motor City and MGM Grand Detroit, said Puggi.
"The beauty of what's happening to Greektown now is that actually, it's a new company," said Puggi. "There's a capital investment behind the product."
His plan will also try to keep Detroiters from going south to gamble when four casinos open in Ohio, including Toledo.
"There are things that set us, Detroit and Ohio, apart, and I think we need to extenuate those things," said Puggi. "We need to emphasize those things so our marketing program, having a strong foothold, has a presence in that marketplace."
WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton's reports Puggi will be Greektown Casino's first CEO post-bankruptcy if his appointment is approved by the Michigan Gaming Control Board and the City of Detroit this month.
