Greektown Casino Moves Ahead On $28.6M Project
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit is moving forward with a $28.6 million project that includes a parking garage and new upscale restaurant.
The casino this week got more bank financing for plans that include an 850-space valet garage for free parking, the restaurant and an elevated moving walkway, according to a report by The Detroit News.
Plans for the restaurant are not yet finalized, but reports say it will likely be more upscale than Greektown's current Bistro 555 restaurant.
The casino says the construction project is expected to employ about 200 workers. It's not known how many permanent jobs might be added.
The 850 new parking spaces will be added to the 2,900 spaces at the existing attached parking garage at the corner of Monroe and St. Antoine.
The new parking garage, which is already under construction, is on Macomb Street between Beaubien and St. Antoine.
