Grandma Arraigned After Leaving Child In Hot Car
A 64-year-old Detroit woman has been charged with misdemeanor child abuse after authorities say she left her 7-year-old grandson in a parked car in 90-degree temperatures. Francine Clark has been released on a $5,000 personal bond Thursday following her arraignment in 36th District Court.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said a security guard notified police after seeing the child alone in the car for several hours Tuesday. The windows were down and the boy was in good condition.
The heat wave has pushed Michigan temperatures into the mid-90s and has killed at least two people in the state.
Clark faces an Aug. 12 preliminary examination.
Authorities couldn't immediately say if Clark has an attorney.
