Man Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting 10-Year-Old Boy Who 'Wanted It'
GRAND RAPIDS (CBS Detroit) -- A convicted sex offender has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in Grand Rapids on Friday.
According to WZZM, Jason Michael Spencer explained to officers that "children are attracted to him." He faces a minimum of 25 years in prison which could be increased to a life sentence.
"Spencer initially claimed it was the child who sought him out, court records show. He told Kent County Sheriff's Detective Joel Roon the boy "actually had approached him and he 'wanted it,''' according to a probable cause affidavit."
The boy said Spencer was touching him inappropriately while the two were watching A Christmas Story. Spencer was jailed in 2013 for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy.
"Jason said he constantly has to stop himself from having sexual contact with kids because they tend to seek him out,'' Kent County Sheriff's Detective Joel Roon wrote. "Jason said that he doesn't understand the justice system as it pertains to this type of case because he didn't feel that he should be prosecuted for this since these kids are the ones who want to 'do it' with him.''
Spencer was brought to Grand Rapids from Marquette, where he was serving time for home break-ins and sexual assault.
