Grand Hotel On Mackinac Island Prepares For Big Opening Weekend
MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ) - Summer is just around the corner, really! And that means there will be a steady stream of people heading to Mackinac Island, a big Michigan tourist destination.
A popular place to stay on the Island is the Grand Hotel, where there will be lots of activities lined up starting this Memorial Day weekend.
Dan Musser is the hotel's president and spoke with WWJ about the influx expected on the island.
"Starting this weekend we start our full children's program," said Musser. "Travel and Leisure have rated us in the top 50 in the family friendly resort in North America and so we do a variety of activities throughout the day, including meal functions."

Musser says they are in the midst of renovations, and just completed the first of seven suits on the fourth floor. He says they also repainted the rooms.
"But the ice is gone and we have a little rain so everything should be starting to green-up for our big weekend coming up."
Musser says that, although they opened several weeks ago, Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff for the summer season.
