GR Firm Says It Can Extend Life Of Sun Storage
Grand Rapids-based Service Express Inc. said Tuesday it can extend the life of Sun Microsystems data storage equipment designated as "end of life" this December by Oracle in its acquisition of Sun.
Included is the Sun StorageTek PowderHorn tape library. Service Express says it can offer service and parts for the units, saving customers the time and expense of buying new equipment and transferring files, which in some cases can lead to months of staff time in transferring data.
"By adding STK to our supported products, we are able to help customers that are struggling during these economic times with our excellent brand of service, keeping them up and running and helping with their bottom line," said Service Express president Ron Alvesteffer.
Besides its Grand Rapids headquarters, Service Express has offices in Detroit and Flint, Mich.; Chicago and Lombard, Ill.; Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Indianapolis and South Bend, Ind.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Milwaukee and Appleton, Wis. SEI is also planning expansion into Springfield, Ill. and St. Louis, Mo.
The company, which has a 98 percent customer retention rate, also supports IBM, DEC, EMC, HP, SUN, Dell, Compaq and Intel-based servers.
