GR Embedded Software Firm Expands to East Michigan
DornerWorks Ltd., a provider of electronic engineering services for the medical, automotive, aerospace, and industrial markets, has announced expansion plans to eastern Michigan, including Detroit and Ann Arbor.
Founded in 2000 by David K. Dorner, DornerWorks now employs more than 50 full time employees in its Grand Rapids headquarters.
"The time was right to expand into east Michigan and reflects the growing need for our services in this region," Dorner said.
As the economic recovery of the auto industry continues across Michigan, DornerWorks officials say they've been "overwhelmed" with staffing requests, many from the east side of the state.
"We are excited about the opportunity to expand our presence in east Michigan and want to assure new clients that they will receive the same level of expertise that our west Michigan clients have experienced for the past decade," said Jason Lovell, vice president of sales and marketing for DornerWorks.
In August of 2010, DornerWorks announced the addition of Fred Dumsa as the regional director for the company's East Side Division. Fred is a lifetime resident of Michigan, and brings more than 26 years experience at Delphi Corp., where he held several leadership roles. In his new role, Dumsa will focus on providing project management and recruiting efforts while maintaining the relationships with DornerWorks existing east side clientele.
Said Dumsa of his new role, "This expansion brings new jobs for talented engineers in east Michigan that might have otherwise left the state to seek employment and provides companies with a choice to do business in Michigan and keep the local economy growing."
Nancy Mazza joined DornerWorks in November of 2010 as its new business development manager for the eastern Michigan market.
"Nancy brings over two decades of experience in sales and marketing for the automotive, industrial, and medical markets in east Michigan, and we are excited to have her on our team," Dumsa said.
DornerWorks has a tentative location chosen in the Novi area.
"We feel this location will give DornerWorks the ability to service the eastern Michigan market well including Detroit, Flint, and Ann Arbor," Dorner said. "We wanted a location that is not only convenient for our clients but our employees as well. DornerWorks is ready and able to provide the engineering services that east Michigan needs!"
