Governor To Spend Turkey Day At Detroit Lions Game
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and his family are giving up their traditional Thanksgiving day meal so they can be in Detroit to watch the Lions play football.
Snyder told reporters Tuesday that he'll still be cooking two turkeys for a family feast.
But that won't be until Friday. Thursday is dedicated to the game.
Unlike past years, the Lions are 7-3 this year and likely to give the unbeaten Green Bay Packers more of a contest during their annual Thanksgiving Day matchup. The governor says he thinks the Lions have a "good chance" to beat their rivals.
As he heads to his first Thanksgiving as governor, he adds that he's thankful for his family and for the chance to "be part of the reinvention of Michigan."
