Gov. Snyder To Watch Wolverines In Title Game
LANSING (WWJ/AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder plans to be in Atlanta to watch the Wolverines play for the NCAA men's basketball championship.
Snyder earned three degrees from the University of Michigan by age 23 and is a long-time season ticket holder to men's basketball games. He says it's "very exciting" to go to the title game Monday night and he hopes the Michigan-Louisville match-up is a good one.
Snyder and Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear wagered bourbon and cherry pie on the game.
Beshear is offering seven bottles of bourbon if Michigan wins. They include Maker's Mark, Jim Bean Black and Wild Turkey 101. Snyder is putting up "the world's best cherry pie" made with Michigan cherries should Louisville prevail.
Democrat Beshear said he's confident the Cardinals' quickness, defense and grit will overwhelm Michigan.
Snydersaid he can't wait to see the Wolverines cut down the nets. He said he doesn't "plan to be baking any pies."
Hear the game beginning at 9 p.m. on 97.1 The Ticket or watch live on CBS 62.
