Gov. Snyder Returns From China Trade Trip
LANSING (AP) - State officials say Gov. Rick Snyder has returned from a 10-day trade mission to China that included opening a business office and meeting with about 20 corporate executives.
The Republican governor and former business executive said in a statement Friday that 21 Michigan businesses participating "found potential new markets, distributorships and other business partnerships." He says Chinese government and business leaders likewise are "eager to seek greater cooperation with Michigan."
Officials reopened the Michigan China Center office, which had been a casualty of past budget cuts. The center provides help to Michigan companies seeking to export products and services and works with Chinese companies looking to expand in Michigan.
The China trip follows last September's trade mission by the governor to that country as well as South Korea and Japan.
