GottaGetaPhone.com Offers Fast, Affordable Replacement Of Wireless Phones

AUBURN HILLS -- Did you drop it? Crush it? Lose it? Flush it? No matter what happened to your expensive wireless phone or tablet, a new Auburn Hills-based Web service says it can provide a fast, easy, direct replacement at a fraction of the cost of comparable devices from a wireless retailer.

The new GottaGetaPhone.com Web store offers low-cost, premium-quality U.S.-remanufactured and new smart phones and other products to consumers who have lost or damaged their original devices.

The site offers both unlocked and carrier-specific phones -- including the latest iPhone, Android and Blackberry models -- at significant savings compared to new phones typically offered through the retail channel. Each GottaGetaPhone.com device is covered by a comprehensive warranty.

"A vast majority of consumers don't pay for insurance on their phones, so when an emergency arises and they need a quick replacement, they often end up paying the full, unsubsidized price at the retailer," said Peter Schmidt, director of sales and marketing for GottaGetaPhone.com. "We enable the consumer to get talking again -- often with exactly the same model or an upgrade -- at a much more affordable price point. GottaGetaPhone.com is also a smart choice for parents who are buying the first phones or tablets for their children and for college students and others on tight budgets."

In addition to helping consumers save money, GottaGetaPhone.com allows them to go "green" with their wireless purchases by selecting extensively renewed devices that might otherwise have ended up in landfills. Currently, fewer than 2 million of the nearly 1.7 billion wireless devices produced each year are recycled, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

GottaGetaPhone.com offers thousands of top-quality U.S.-remanufactured devices and accessories, many available for delivery within just one or two days. Each device undergoes manufacturer- or industry-certified inspection, repair and validation processes to ensure like-new performance. Whenever possible, these devices are also updated to the manufacturer's latest available software, and GottaGetaPhone.com provides access to the original manufacturer's owner's manual.

GottaGetaPhone.com is a subsidiary of Auburn Hills-based Nexlink Communication, www.nexlinkcommunications.com, a provider of remanufactured phones to cell phone carriers and insurance companies. Its founders, Steve Cosgrove and Jeff Messano, formerly worked at Wireless Source, another used cell phone provider in Oakland County. Nexlink purchased a former Motorola plant in Eveleth, Minn., where the phones are remanufactured.

"We offer fully kitted refurbished phones, with chargers and all accessories in original boxes, for about 60 percent of the price of a new one," Schmidt said. "You go to our site, we link to Pay Pal where you can pay, and if you want overnight shipping we can provide it."

Schmidt said the service is a reflection of the reality that "nobody can afford any more to not have a phone. People today are doing everything on their phones -- texting, work email, pictures, video."

Schmidt said the service would be marketed heavily at universities, with one pilot school being Michigan State.
