Got Mooch?
So far this week, all of the attention in the world of College Football has focused on the University of Michigan and their new head coach Brady Hoke. That's fine; it's the biggest story and should garner the attention. But now that Hoke has been hired, let's take a look at some unfinished business up in East Lansing.
Mark Dantonio lost his offensive coordinator, Don Treadwell, to Miami University. That means that a position has opened up on the Spartan coaching staff. It's been over two weeks since the announcement was made and still no word on Treadwell's replacement or what kind of shifting and shuffling we'll see at Michigan State. So, I thought I'd take my time to throw a name out there as someone whom I'd like to see take over the play calling duties at my alma mater.
Steve Mariucci; Mooch would be great in so many ways. He would first and foremost be a very respected offensive mind to add the mix for a team coming off their first 11 win season. Mariucci would also provide instant credibility in the eyes of high school kids deciding on their collegiate futures. Also, don't discount how happy he could be if he were closer to his best friend Tom Izzo.
I don't expect Michigan State to announce that Steve Mariucci as the new offensive coordinator, but I do hope that his name is at least under consideration because his addition would almost certainly keep the momentum going for the Spartan Football program.
