Good Samaritan Killed Helping Stranded Motorist
GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - A 55-year-old Grand Rapids man who stopped to help a stranded motorist was struck and killed.
Police say Daniel Haynes was going to use his truck to help pull out the motorist's vehicle, which was stuck in the snow last night.
The Grand Rapids Press reports a 21-year-old Grand Rapids man lost control of his vehicle and hit the front of Haynes' truck, pinning him between his truck and the stranded vehicle.
Police say witnesses tried to help Haynes before authorities arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
