Give The Gift Of 'Boom' This Holiday Season

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - For shoppers looking for the perfect gift for the hard-to-buy-for person, Oakland Community College has the perfect gift.
The college is auctioning the opportunity to implode 17-story skyscraper in Southfield on eBay.
"We are excited to offer this unique opportunity to one lucky winner," said OCC Foundation Executive Director Carol Furlong, in a release. "Proceeds go to supporting our students."
The winning bidder will have the chance to start the implosion of the North Park Plaza building on the morning of December 14. Bidding is open through 11 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014.
The winner of the auction winner will receive the opportunity to start the implosion of the skyscraper, a commemorative photo of the event and recognition on the OCC Foundation website. Bids are tax-deductible and all proceeds go to OCC students.
The college purchased the 42-year-old, 17-story, 340,000 square feet building earlier this year. According to a release, there are no immediate plans for the property and the building is blighted and must be removed.
The implosion date is subject to change based on weather and other conditions.
