'Girls' Star Lena Dunham Takes On Critics: 'I'm Thin For, Like, Detroit'
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Fighting back at those who say the critically acclaimed darling should stop taking off her clothes on her hit show "Girls," Lena Dunham had an interesting take on the situation.
Dunham, 26, writer and star the show, called Howard Stern this week to discuss the fact he called her a "little fat chick" on his radio show who shouldn't write herself into every scene.
Dunham told Stern she didn't take his criticism personally, saying she understood the critique. "I'm a big fan of your particular brand of free speech," Dunham said.
Her only issue was with charges that she's fat: "I'm not super thin, but I'm thin for, like, Detroit," she said.
Stern tried to back down, but chose his words poorly--Lena laughed: "Howard Stern says I'm 'not obese or anything.'" As Howard moaned, saying "This is all coming out horribly," Lena said his overture was unnecessary.
"I appreciate it and I appreciate your effort to rectify [this], but whether you'd done that or not, I'd have remained a [Howard Stern] enthusiast," she said laughing.
For his part, Stern said this: "It's not about apologizing, although I want to say I'm a fan of yours...I love you and I think you're terrific."
So, what do you think: Is Dunham chubby for Hollywood and skinny for Detroit?
