Georgia Launches Statewide Health Information Exchange With Truven
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Truven Health Analytics and the Georgia Department of Community Health announced the launch of a statewide health information exchange network, the Georgia Health Information Network.
The GaHIN utilizes Truven Health to provide clinicians throughout the state with a longitudinal patient history at the point of care by securely capturing real-time clinical and administrative data from electronic medical records, healthcare claims, Georgia Medicaid, Public Health Georgia Registry for Immunization Services (GRITS) and many other sources.
"Implementing a statewide health information exchange network brings us closer to our goals for improving care, reducing healthcare costs, and streamlining communication throughout our state's healthcare organizations," said Kelly Gonzalez, chief of the DCH Division of Health IT and Georgia State Health IT coordinator.
The Truven Health platform is powered by CareEvolution and implements advanced industry standards to create a tailored exchange for healthcare stakeholders throughout Georgia.
Said Mike Boswood, president and CEO of Ann Arbor-based Truven: "The GaHIN gives care providers the information they need to make the critical decisions that will result in improved clinical outcomes."
