General Motors Looks To Cut Costs After Quake In Japan
DETROIT (WWJ) - General Motors is cutting unnecessary spending company wide as it assesses the impact of production disruptions from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
A GM spokesman says the move will help the automaker preserve cash as it deals with the financial implications from shortages of parts made in Japan.
The earthquake and following tsunami in Japan have created parts shortages for General Motors. Ford and Chrysler have not been effected to date.
