Gator's Blog: Bat Cabrera 3rd
I have an idea that is shared by many a Tigers fan...bat Cabrera third.
There are a multitude of reasons why this should happen, chief of which is that he'll get more at bats over the course of the season hitting third rather than fourth. But my number one reason why Miggy should hit third is because it would guarantee that he hits in the first inning.
The fear of seeing the big fella right off the bat should be worth something and if it's good enough for Jim Leyland's buddy Tony Larussa to hit Albert Pujols third, why not Cabrera? Victor Martinez would hold down the number four slot and after that, do what makes you happy. The Tigers lineup can be formidable when they click on all cylinders, but moving Miggy up a spot would mean that teams would have to confront him earlier than expected.
As far as Magglio Ordonez is concerned, the Tigers have time to ensure that his ankle heals appropriately and they don't need to rush him back, particularly rushing him back to the 3 spot.
